Don Taylor, Atlanta, 11 October 2013

My grandmother play at this theater on November 26, 1919 in the Charles Dillingham musical comedy "Chin Chin."

Sandra Scheid, Ogden, 4 May 2007

I migrated to Ogden with my mother in 1972. On occasion i would attend movies at the Egyptian Theater with my siblings and I used to thoroughly enjoy this theater for it's unique look. It was not until 2007 when I became a World Wide Review committee member for Hill Air Force Base that I began to renew my fascination with Ogden folklore. These committee meetings are held in conjunction with the Marriott Hotel, Ogden Eccles Center and the Hampton Inn. I have witnessed firsthand the renovations of these fine establishments and am extremely grateful that the Egyptian Theater was able to be saved and utilized for the arts.
However, I remember the Orpheum Theater in only partial grandeur but am extremely saddened that this great piece of history was destroyed to build a parking lot. I realize we need to make way for a broadening society but would it not benefit cities to be able to boast of something that held such cultural significance this side of the Mississippi River?? I can see why the Europeans jest that Americans RE-built something to the way it was OVER....50 years ago today!! 50 years? Europe holds lore that is 5000 years old. Let's not lose sight of our past while we are trying to make way for our future. Thank you.
